Performance

Shifting the conversation from cost per watt to cost per kilowatt hour

Every solar energy system is different. Engineering excellence, new applications and ever improving modules and components bring with them the promise of superior performance. But what really constitutes tangible performance? The Performance Committee is focused on the development and deployment of Solar Performance Standards that will align with the California Solar Initiative. This will help define precisely how solar performance should be measured.

  • How do we harmonize performance metrics at the component level?
  • What measures must we take to establish a uniform language that consistently depicts system performance?
  • How do we ensure consistency with global standards such as IEC 61836, IEC 62446?

These are some of the pertinent questions addressed by SolarTech.

Committee Goal: Make buying solar systems easier with standard performance metrics and energy yield education tools resulting in 25% faster buying decisions.

Solartech Participants SolarTech member companies including PV system developers, module and component manufacturers, system monitoring providers, and engineering firms are collaborating to develop standard metrics that are consumer-friendly, simplifying the purchase process for residents and business owners.
